A submersible well pump is a special type of water pump that is mainly used to work submerged in water. The main features of a submersible well pump are submersible operation, wide range of uses, high efficiency and energy saving, and a wide range of flow and head.
Working principle of a submersible well pump
The working principle of a submersible well pump is to drive the impeller to rotate through a motor, thereby generating centrifugal force, so that the water forms a vacuum at the impeller inlet, sucking the water into the pump body and discharging it through the drain port. Depending on the different usage scenarios and liquid characteristics, submersible well pumps may use different materials and designs, such as oil-immersed, water-immersed or dry motors, etc.
Application fields of submersible well pumps
Submersible well pumps are widely used in urban water supply and drainage systems, farmland irrigation, industrial production, family life and other fields. For example, in farmland irrigation, submersible well pumps can extract groundwater for irrigation; in urban water supply and drainage systems, submersible well pumps can be used for water supply, flood control and drainage, etc.
How to install a submersible well pump
- Preliminary preparation:
- Check the well: Make sure that the well depth, diameter and water quality meet the use conditions of the selected submersible well pump.
- Check the power supply voltage: Make sure that the power supply voltage meets the specified use standards of the submersible well pump.
- Select pump model: Select the appropriate submersible well pump according to factors such as well depth, water level change, required flow and head.
- Install well cover and platform:
- Make sure the well platform is suitable for installing the well cover and can bear the weight of the submersible well pump unit and the matching outlet pipe.
- If the water storage capacity of the pump pit cannot be met, a platform should be built. The width of the platform shall not be less than 2m and 200mm above the water surface.
- Check the submersible well pump:
- Remove the filter screen of the submersible well pump and check the rotation of the pump shaft to ensure that there is no jamming.
- Use a multimeter to check whether the three-phase wires of the submersible well pump are conductive and whether the DC resistance is approximately balanced.
- Install the submersible well pump:
- Use a suitable lifting device to lower the submersible well pump into the well, ensure that the lifting device structure is firm and the operator is familiar with the use method.
- Install a water suction filter or filter screen at the bottom of the pump to prevent the pump from entering impurities and particles at the bottom of the well.
- Connect cables and water pipes:
- The cable length should be adjusted reasonably according to the well depth to avoid being too long or too short.
- The cable connection must be firm and reliable, and waterproof measures should be taken to prevent the cable from getting damp or entering the well water.
- The water pipe rubber pad should be installed correctly and the bolts of each section of the water pipe should be tightened evenly.
- Tie the cable to the water pipe with a plastic belt or other waterproof rope on each section of the water pipe, but do not pull the cable too tight.
- Electrical connection and debugging:
- Check whether the power supply voltage and frequency are consistent with the requirements on the submersible well pump label.
- Ensure that the electrical system is well grounded to prevent the risk of electric shock.
- Check the insulation resistance and three-conductor connection from the switch.
- Close the gate valve (leave a little gap) and close the switch, start the motor, slowly open the gate valve, and adjust it until the ammeter indicates 90-100% of the rated current value.
- Test run and inspection:
- After the first four hours of operation of the submersible well pump, stop the pump and quickly measure the hot insulation resistance. It can only be put into operation when it is not less than 0.5 megohm.
- Observe whether the instrument indication exceeds the nameplate specification, and check the power supply and operation.
Notes
- The submersible well pump must be equipped with a mesh box, and the size of the mesh box should be appropriate to protect the submersible well pump from damage by impurities and particles.
- The submersible well pump should be placed upright, and the height of the pump base from the bottom plate of the pump pit during normal drainage should not be less than 200mm.
- The cables must be hung neatly and attached with identification plates.
- The operating button should be fixed with an insulating board at a distance of no more than 10m from the submersible well pump.
- Lighting must be installed at the drainage point to ensure the safety of personnel.
